New Steering Functionality in MagLog Announced

Aug 10, 2011 | Posted in Blog, News

Geometrics announces an important new functionality in MagLogLite including the ability to generate survey grids and steer (navigate) on those survey lines. MagLogPro (and MagLogLite) both have these new features and all current users are invited to upgrade at no charge. This software requires a paid license, demo license available. The new program can be found by clicking on this link:

There is also a preliminary manual for the operation of this function in the same directory.

Ship position, fish position, survey line and heading are shown in the GPS maps.

The Navigation screen shows left-right cross track error, rate of change, heading and a “runway” plot of distance to end of line.

The cross track error plot incorporates a Kalman filter to keep the GPS drift from interfering with the steering function. Logging of the magnetometer data is automatically initiated when the survey line is selected and when the magnetometer fish enters the survey grid area. The Navigation Screen is in a “mini-window” which may be dragged to a secondary LCD screen for pilot viewing.
