Shell Accepts 400 Channel Geode System
Geometrics is pleased to announce that Shell International Exploration and Production has accepted Geometrics Geode system for use on one of its production monitoring projects. The Geode system will record continuously over a several month period, at high sample rates and stores data to an integrated HP LTO tape library. The Shell team, consisting of Dr. David DeMartini and Mr. Gale Howe, spent 2 days at Geometrics learning the system and approving the documentation.
"Data volumes are spectacular" says Dennis Wilkison, Director of Engineering for Geometrics. "We are collecting 46 megabytes of data every 15 seconds and recording to 200 gigabyte tapes round the clock. We have run the system continuously for 3 weeks without a single error". Records are timed with a synchronized GPS clock and integrated with custom header information regarding the position of the phones in the wells.
The system will be deployed remotely but can be monitored from the comfort of any computer with Internet access. A unique alarm system automatically dials cell phones and pagers to alert operators should trouble occur. A UPS system provides backup power.
