Higher energy than a hammer – significantly lower cost than a vibrator. If you are doing reflection surveys and impact sources are either too weak or too cumbersome, consider the improved PRS-1 method (similar to Mini-SOSIE). Configured to allow use of a construction rammer from a local rental shop, this method has as good noise rejection as a vibrator at a fraction of the cost. Requires a Geometrics seismograph with PRS-1 hardware and software.
