The Position
Geometrics is seeking to fill an in-house Customer Service Applications Engineer position. This is a wonderful opportunity for a person to use his/her geophysical background to provide solutions to customers involved in geophysical surveys. This position will work in our Customer Service / Lease Pool department, assisting potential Lease Pool customers in determining which equipment will be best suitable for their project, quoting the leasing cost, securing equipment availability, and scheduling rentals. The position may assist current customers with requests for spare parts and accessories. The Applications Engineer will also be responsible for testing and readying equipment prior to leasing, helping customers with problems in the field, and assisting engineering in the development process with testing and suggestions from the field perspective. This position will be responsible for developing and testing equipment in new applications, and helping sales with quoting unique systems for particular applications.
A broad range of skills are required, including technical skills with low-noise circuitry, computer skills in troubleshooting hardware and software issues on PCs, training and field experience in geophysics, excellent communications skills, and delicacy in handling customer problems. Familiarity with Microsoft Access and Excel and DOS would be a plus. Above all, a commitment to excellence, making sure Geometrics equipment is of superb quality, and our customers are satisfied.
This is a key position for Geometrics. Our lease pool business is growing and we need excellent people in house who have practical experience in the field and understand our customers' requirements. This position will assist engineering in setting product specifications, help manufacturing with quality assurance and testing, help sales with applications support, and in general make sure Geometrics is meeting our customers' needs.
Qualifications
Requirements are a BA in Engineering or Geophysics or similar field, at least 5 years experience in field situations using electronic equipment, and knowledge of geophysical instruments and their techniques. Experience in dealing with customers is a must. Both domestic and international travel is required.
