Systems Software Test Engineer
The Position
Candidate will be working as a System Software Test Engineer in the Engineering Department, designing, writing, debugging and testing application software and firmware for high performance geophysical instruments. The position requires skills in designing, writing, debugging, and testing Microsoft Windows software, firmware for different micro controllers or DSPs, in developing application installation scripts, in building PCs, configuring PCs, and installing all Microsoft OS. Engineers working in our environment will be able to contribute their skills in all of these areas to produce high performance, user friendly, reliable geophysical instrumentation.
Possible duties will range from learning new geophysical acquisition system software, field test deployment, designing, writing, testing and debugging new and old versions of software or firmware, building installation disk, releasing software, and writing sections of the operators manual. The individual will have a high degree of interaction with customers and other groups within Geometrics to discuss features and performance.
Qualifications
BSEE or BS or BA degree in Computer Sciences, Mathematics, or Geophysics, with a strong record of software development and English writing skills.
At least FIVE years of experience writing MFC application software is a REQUIREMENT for this position.
Experience writing communication software for RS232 and Ethernet, designing MDI applications, plotting real time data using bitmap caching technique, writing firmware, using InstallShield is also a requirement for this position.
Knowledge of assembly language, Embedded Linux, DDK, 8051, DSP would be a plus. The successful candidate should have had past experience designing, writing, debugging and testing MFC applications for data acquisition systems using Visual Studio.
